THE TBCSA
The Tourism Business Council of South Africa is the official umbrella organisation for the
Travel and Tourism private sector in South Africa. Our mandate is to represent Travel and
Tourism and be a conduit with the public sector.
We seek to lobby and positively influence government policies and decisions in the interest of the Travel and Tourism sector.
OUR KEY MILESTONES INCLUDE:
- Successful lobbying for the establishment of a dedicated government department for Tourism;
- The development of the Tourism BEE Charter in partnership with key stakeholders;
- Strengthening relations with influential organisations such as the UN World Tourism Organisation, RETOSA and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

As already mentioned, the partnership between government and the private sector is represented by the TBCSA to ensure joint responsibility for South Africa's tourism policy, its strategic direction and its implementation. This commitment is embodied in the TBCSA's representation on a number of bodies established by the department of Tourism and other ministries.These bodies include:
- South African Tourism Board
- THETA Board (Tourism, Hospitality, Education and Sports Training Authority)
- National Department of Transport's Aviation Policy Review Panel
- RETOSA EXCO
- UNWTO (Affiliate Membership)
