Cape Town keeps on Winning
<< Back to News

It is no small wonder that Cape Town is considered to be one of the world’s greatest cities to visit. The places and experiences that make destination Cape Town so phenomenal are rated amongst the world’s best. In an era of tough international competition where visitors are spoilt for choice, it takes true excellence to walk away with such accolades as recently received by some of Cape Town Tourism’s members.

The Winchester Mansions were just awarded the top position in South Africa in the very prestigious Budget Travel magazine and Trip Advisor 100 Best Values 2008. "This is a huge contribution to Cape Town’s international position as a world class destination that prides itself in remarkable, yet value for money visitor experiences," says Mariette du Toit-Helmbold, CEO of Cape Town Tourism. "We are very proud of our hospitality industry and commend the hard work and commitment of the industry to further building on Cape Town’s reputation as a top international visitor destination."

Other recent award winners include Knysna’s Phantom Forest Eco-Reserve, named Africa‘s best eco-destination in the World Tourism Awards, one of international tourism's most prestigious accolades. Cape Town’s Mount Nelson Hotel walked away with top honours in the Best Hotel category and Steenberg was named Best Wine Estate.
