On 18 March 2008, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA)

received an application from Eskom for electricity price increase for the

2008/9 financial year. The Energy Regulator has issued a consultation paper

on this matter and is requesting inputs from stakeholders and the public.

The consultation paper and Eskom’s application are available on NERSA’s

website at www.nersa.org.za as from Tuesday, 8 April 2008.

Closing date for submitting written public comments is Tuesday, 29 April

2008. Written comments can be submitted to Mr Mtutuzeli Benya or

Ms Priya Singh at this email address: eskomprice2008_9@nersa.org.za

All stakeholders and the public are invited to submit written comments on

the important issues raised in the consultation paper ahead of the public

hearing that will be held on 23 May 2008 at NERSA Auditorium in Pretoria.
